Jesus vs. Barack Obama

Okay, maybe I am a bit Obama Obsessed, but I do fully understand that he is not Jesus. I believe he has many Christ-like characteristics, but I realize he is a perfectly human man with all the many varied flaws that comprise the human condition - as was made even clearer (than just the simple declarative fact of his humanity) over the past few weeks as with him being caught out there in more than one issue of deceit. First the padding of the resume in his claiming he'd had a bill passed which he hadn't. And than again in regards to his former minister, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, by claiming not to have ever heard the esteemed Reverend use such heated language during his years as a member of the congregation. The issue of his matters of deceit came up on the Situation Room w/Wolf Blitzer the other day when the topic came up about Clinton having embellished, quite liberally, a story of a visit she took as first lady and the level of danger she was in as a representative of the United States of America - toting it as more experience than her democratic opponent. I must say in his defense that I think the difference between the types of mistruths he tells and those of many others in the political arena is that he simply mis-speaks sometimes in the moment in order to enhance his speech or make a simple boring story a bit more tragic or heroic, or out of feeling caught on the spot and spouting out the most politically correct thing to say in the moment without thinking. - which is what I think happened when he told reporters that he'd never heard Rev. Wright use such inflamatory language; whereas - many others seem to lie to cover and/or distort crimes and misdemeanors. Not that I am speaking out to condone or defend lying or any other form of deceit, or to imply that there is any biblical support for the belief that any one lie is better or worse than the other. I’m just saying that when the day comes for me to stand before God, I hope He will take such nuances into consideration.

Okra I'm  loving Okra this week. I remember a neighbor, from an apartment I rented a long time ago in Brooklyn , who put okra in her rice whenever she cooked it, just regular white rice. It was the first time I ate okra and enjoyed it. She was an African woman who could probably cook anything and it would taste incredible. Anyway, with her i

Please pray for our public officials.

For they yield so much power over our lives. Just look at how much our lives have changes over the past eight years for reference. If we are truly our neighbors keepers, how can we sit back and be content to not get involved while so many remain hungry and their numbers are being added to daily. In this current economy, which has gone from bad to worst over the past seven years - now has many who were considered middle class just a year or two ago are now finding themselves sleeping on the streets as a result of erroneous political decisions by our top politicians. We are deeply engrossed in a war with no known exit strategy or intention, against folks who were not our enemy prior to our invading their territory. Most Iraqian’s were not exactly fans of America (for valid reasons) however, facts seem to reveal that 911, the primary reason given for the invasion, was the responsibility of al-Qaida in Afganastan, not Iraq.
